On October 17–18, the 2019 Greater Bay Area International Science and Technology Innovation Summit (BATi) was held at the JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen Qianhai. During the event, the list of "Outstanding Young Entrepreneurs of the Greater Bay Area" (honoring the region's achievements over the past 70 years) was unveiled. Tang Zhengzong, founder and CEO of XTOP3D—a leading domestic company in 3D industrial inspection—was named among the innovators, becoming the sole representative from the 3D optical inspection sector to make the list. Other honorees included 54 outstanding young entrepreneurs from the Greater Bay Area, such as Xu Yubin (founder of Hive Box), Peng Xin (founder of Nayuki), and He Fan (founder of Huishoubao).


The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area serves as a vital spatial platform for the nation to develop a world-class city cluster and engage in global competition; it ranks alongside the New York Bay Area and San Francisco Bay Area in the United States and the Tokyo Bay Area in Japan as one of the world's four major bay areas. Tang Zhengzong holds a Ph.D. from Xi'an Jiaotong University and is a renowned expert in 3D optical measurement in China. His primary research interests include machine vision, industrial 3D photogrammetry, and full-field 3D deformation and strain measurement and analysis. He led his team in formulating the first national standard in the field of 3D optics. Their projects have garnered prestigious honors, including the Second Prize of the National Award for Technological Invention and the First Prize of the Shaanxi Province Science and Technology Award, with multiple research achievements and key technologies reaching world-leading levels.

As a core engine of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Shenzhen is currently home to the headquarters of 379 listed companies—surpassing Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing to rank first in the country. In 2013, shortly after completing his doctoral studies, Tang Zhengzong co-founded XTOP3D Technology (Xi'an) Co., Ltd. with his team, launching the market rollout of their 3D industrial inspection technologies and subsequently gaining widespread market recognition.

In 2018, XTOP3D and a global AI... Orbbec, a leader in the 3D technology sector, underwent a strategic restructuring that included relocating its headquarters to Shenzhen and establishing XTOP3D Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. When asked about the move from Xi'an to Shenzhen, Tang Zhengzong explained: "Our decision was primarily driven by considerations of market breakthroughs and growth potential.
