Xi'an Mayor Li Mingyuan Visits XTOP3D to Inspect Advanced 3D Optical Measurement & DIC Systems

Date:2025-04-02

On April 17, Xi'an Mayor Li Mingyuan led a delegation to the Xi'an Software Park in the High-tech Zone to inspect the development of the artificial intelligence industry; the delegation also visited "Aobi Tuojiang" (the Xi'an Research Institute of Orbbec). Dr. Tang Zhengzong, President of the Xi'an Research Institute and CEO of XTOP3D, received Mayor Li and his delegation.

XTOP3D is the industrial business unit of Orbbec; in recent years, it has achieved numerous R&D breakthroughs and technological innovations in the field of industrial inspection. Dr. Tang Zhengzong provided Mayor Li Mingyuan with a detailed overview of the R&D achievements and industry applications realized by the Orbbec Xi'an Research Institute and XTOP3D, and arranged on-site demonstrations of a range of high-end 3D optical measurement equipment.

At the Xi'an Research Institute's exhibition hall, Dr. Tang Zhengzong introduced a range of 3D modules and proprietary chip technologies from Orbbec—designed for applications such as smartphones, facial recognition payments, security surveillance, and education—as well as high-end equipment independently developed by XTOP3D, including the XTOM 3D optical measurement system, XTDIC 3D full-field strain measurement and analysis system, and TubeQualify online tube inspection system. These technologies and systems are currently widely used in sectors such as intelligent manufacturing. Mayor Li and his delegation carefully observed the operation of each technology and 3D optical measurement device, expressing high praise for the technological leadership and industry applications of the products.

During the inspection tour, Mayor Li Mingyuan carefully examined the innovative R&D achievements of Orbbec’s Xi’an Research Institute and XTOP3D, learned about the applications of AI-based 3D sensing technology and 3D optical measurement equipment across various industries, and closely observed product operations and measurement processes. Mayor Li commended the companies for their achievements and expressed high expectations for their future development.

During the visit, Mayor Li emphasized the need to leverage the approval to establish a "National Pilot Zone for the Innovative Development of a New Generation of Artificial Intelligence" as an opportunity to further optimize the spatial layout of the AI industry. He stressed the importance of aligning with AI innovation needs, continuously cultivating top-tier talent, and improving the environment for talent development, thereby providing strong momentum for enhancing innovation capabilities and driving industrial transformation and upgrading.
